Christmas treats

Journal Entry: Thu Dec 21, 2006, 5:27 PM
  • Mood: Eye Candy
  • Listening to: Hollie Smith, Opensouls, JJ Cale, Rammstein
  • Reading: Crete by Antony Beevor (yeah, still)
  • Watching: Star Wars (1-6), Germany's Apocalypse on History
  • Playing: house
  • Eating: Apple and cinnamon cream donuts from Blagdon Baker
  • Drinking: Absolute vodka and Corona beer
I've finally done something I've been promising myself for a while now - went out and got all six Star Wars movies on DVD. Being a bear of very short attention span I don't really watch a lot of movies. Shit, it took me nearly three months to get all the way through the first Lord of the Rings movie. I tried all three at once with a big bottle of Absolut vodka, pretty much blithered my way through about six hours of it and slipped into a coma.
Star Wars though changed my life way back when. I was EXACTLY the right age to be captured by it and spent years afterwards trying to get the same high hitting up every piece of sci-fi crap that came along (anybody remember Gil Gerrard as Buck Rogers?) before coming to the realisation that science fiction was much better taken in book form where my imagination could be in charge and not whored out by every disco loving movie producer and a bunch of skanky aliens (apart from Alien itself, but that's always been more of a horror movie to me).
My life's goal has (and always will be) command of my own star destroyer with a hold full of TIE fighters and Tiger I's to smash the bolshevik rabble. Hang on, that's another goal. Never mind.
Merry whatever you celebrate all - here's to another fantastic year.

Good to meet up - rats, left the Preacher books behind. D'oh!

Likewise. Never mind the Preacher books - I can always drop them around or some such. Another coffee evening etc would be great some time.

Sounds like a very workable plan. the in-laws are here until the 9th, but after that would be good.

Excellent. We're off to Parihaka this week - that should be excellent. Just finished 'Dark Lord'. Parts of it would have made an excellent epilogue to Revenge of the Sith, others were just plain bollocks. I love the way the SW universe takes itself so seriously, no cheese here! lol. Have a great New Year. Cheers.

Hey Nik - taken a while to reply. Holidays and all - going away for two weeks at end of this week, but will be taking laptop so should be able to stay in touch (if coverage is there).
Parihaka was cool! Very cool. Didn't go on the Sunday tho as I got hideously sunburnt on the Saturday. Who knew that shins could get sunburn? Legs are still red nearly two weeks later. Maybe I should go out in the sun more often (for shorter times obviously).
Would definitely recommend next year's festival. We might even take a tent down and stay the while time.
How was your new years?

My In-Laws arrived with the thunder on New Year's Eve... tehy go back to the UK tomorrow - it's been... stressful I guess you can say.

Went up to Coro and Rotovegas, then back via the 43 - which I've been wanting to drive since we got here.

Busy with a contest on the CG Society.
